Win Tickets to See Glenn Close at the Paramount

I love watching movies at The Paramount -- the ambience and responsive audiences more than make up for the, er, austere theater seats. I still remember the fun of watching Office Space there. But the theater also hosts a number of film-related events throughout the year. Earlier this year, Spike Lee showed up to screen Summer of Sam. Next year's performances include one-person shows from William Shatner and Oliver Stone.
And on Thursday night (Dec. 6), the Paramount is bringing us "An Evening with Glenn Close," in which the actress will tell stories about her life and career. Looking at Glenn Close's filmography, it can't help but be fascinating. And if you haven't bought tickets yet, Slackerwood has a pair of tickets to give away!
I'll make this super-easy: Simply post a comment below mentioning your favorite Glenn Close movie role: Dangerous Liaisons, 101 Dalmatians, Hook ... whatever you like best. (Mine may be the photo at the top, from a film I consider underrated.) Make sure you include your email address, which only I will see, and will use only to contact the winner. Post your comment by 11:59 pm today (Tuesday, Dec. 4). I'll pick one person at random to win a pair of tickets, which will be available for you at the box office.
The tickets don't include downtown parking, but Paramount offers event parking at One American Center for $6, which I recommend. You can get there two hours early (dinner!) and leave one hour after (drinks or ice cream, depending) and the money goes to the Paramount. Now that metered parking is in effect on Thursday nights, it's as good a deal as you'll get.
In addition, the Paramount is showing holiday movies this month ... look for Elizabeth's rundown on the Naughty and Nice programming this afternoon.

Glenn Close
Because you asked for a movie: Fatal Attraction
But I really love her most in Damages. She's fierce!
No matter what I see her in,
No matter what I see her in, my favorite Glenn Close role is still as the psychopathic Alex Forrest in Fatal Attraction.
Favorite Glenn Close movie role
I agree, she was excellent in The Stepford Wives.
GLENN CLOSE!
Hey! A little known factoid is that Glenn Close appeared in cameo for "Hook" dressed as a pirate! I have to say, I've seen that nanosecond of screen time dozens of times and still think it was both incredibly brave of her to dress up as a dude, but also at the height of her career, to take a role in which she would not be readily recognized.
Glenn Close!
MARS ATTACKS!
Need I say more.
I love Glenn Close in the Big
I love Glenn Close in the Big Chill. I wanted to be her character when the film was released. This was the first time I saw Glenn in a film, and I've admired her work since.
Glenn Close
Thought she was great as Cruella De Vil in 101 Dalmatians, but also loved her guest spot on the West Wing.
GLENN CLOSE
Dangerous Liasons
Glenn Close - Fatal Attraction
Fatal Attraction - now that was a classic!
In the Gloaning
Glenn Close was phenomenal in the role as a grieving mother. We're used to seeing her play more malicious characters, but in the aforementioned film, she shows us her softer side and does with it with delicacy and sincerity. The final scene is acting at its best. Actually, she's terrific in everything she does as she infuses an edgy yet real quality in all of her performances that has the viewer wanting to see more of her on screen, especially when she emotes a range of emotions in one uncut scene and/or monologue. The climax of The Stepford Wives is a perfect example, as is House of the Spirits, Heights, and The Safety of Objects.
By the way, I don't live in Texas, so just in case I'm considered for the tickets, I would have to decline. But, whoever wins, I hope they have a great time!
I agree. She should have been
I agree. She should have been nominated for a Supporting Actress Oscar for 'Stepford'. But I think awards escape her only because of her vast resume of incredible performances (akin to Streep who took forever to win her third oscar, though not entirely deservedly). She's too good to give an Oscar to, unless they decide its time, symbolically, to present her with one. But my fave performance - one that I think cemented her status as great was in 'Reversal of Fortune'. (I live in Singapore by the way so will have to decline the tickets)
Yes
I loved her in that as well. She was HILARIOUS in some scenes.
