SXSW 2014: Mondo Gallery Ansin/Tong Show
A mere week after their tremendously successful Disney-themed gallery show, the folks at Mondo reset the gallery for a second SXSW exhibit -- this time, featuring works from two of their most popular artists, Martin Ansin and Kevin Tong. As usual, people were lined up around the block waiting their chance to purchase these beautiful limited-edition art prints.
Previews for the show had included posters for the films Prometheus, Alien, Aliens and The Wizard of Oz, as well as a gorgeous double-poster treatment by Ansin of the 1980 Flash Gordon side-by-side with the 1938 Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars. These were all on display as well as works for Hannibal, The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, Psycho, Upstream Color and Robocop along with a number of stunning original sketches from Tong.
You can see the rest of our photos from the show in the Slackerwood Flickr set, or check it out in person at 4115 Guadalupe from Tuesday through Saturday, noon to six. Selected prints and originals should still be available for purchase, but they sell out quickly. Keep an eye out for online sales via their blog at blog.mondotees.com and on Twitter @mondotees.
